I still refining my ideas, and may for the rest of my life, but I have a few core ideals.
- Workers should own their Work
- Corporations are a Cancer
- The Goverment has a Duty to Care
- Social Democratic Republicanism
- Replacing Private Property with Personal and Communal Property
Explanation
A strong belief in freedom, compassion, and the social contract in addition to anger over the main injustice of capitalism has cause for both me and my loved ones is what lead me to become a Socialist.
So why Market Socialism? Why not Communism or AnSoc? Basically I neither totally trust the government not do I trust the total lack of a government.
When people say "Communism" today is normally means Vanguardism such as Bolshevism, Maoism, etc. Vanguardism easily turns into authoritarian state capitalism as we saw with the USSR/CCCP and PRC.
As for Anarcho-Socialism (AnSoc), I thing it a great ideal but it to vulnerable to splintering, mob-think, and bad actors to be a stable foundation as the sole form of social organization in a society. Still I respect them as long as their not assholes.
Market Socialism fill a middle ground of removing capitalist, and decentralizing power with removing a strong government. Its also a much easier 'sell' to the average person as it can be mostly done via reform and direct action instead of violent revolution (which always cares risk).
Some Terms
- Social Contract: In this context it is the idea that individuals have consented, either explicitly or tacitly, to surrender some of their freedoms and wealth/labor to an authority in exchange for protection of their rights, saftey, and soical needs in a way that would not be possible as individuals.
- Personal Property: In a MarkSoc context is the designation for Property own by a non-governmental individual or family that is used directy by said owner. This can be house, personal trasport, clothing, personal tools, etc. It can even include a farm or workshop as long as it is for Personal use.
- Communal Property: Is property owned communaly by its users, such as workers collective owning their place of work or tenants collective owning their building. Communal Property is a exstention of the Personal Property, being the user of a thing should be its owner. The main diffrence with Personal Property is that the ownership done through a organisation that acts as the "governing body" of the property.
- Private Property: Legal designation for the ownership of property by non-governmental legal entities. It can include the ownership of land, tools, trademarks, and resorces that are nether directly use nor created by the owner. The flaw of this type of property is it allows for a form of Social Parasitism where one can gain wealth from labor of others or from simple ownership without contributing anything meaningful in return.
