The first place all who are devoured are greeted by a great marsh filled with the blood and corpses of the Devourer’s victims . A ceiling of rusting steel and half lit, red lights enclose the marsh. Lurchs, beasts, and flatboat scavengers patrol the area looking for their next meal. Surrounding the marsh are doors, vents, tubes leading to the City of a Thousand Faces and the Guts.
The Knot is the main home for those who survive the Devourer. The City is an endless knot of streets, tunnels, rooms, and complexes deep in the Guts. The Devourer eats not only people from all walks of life across the world but sometimes from different but partial universals occurring in both the future and past. The expansive nature of the city and the great mix of peoples has led to a diverse settlement with little to no central governmenting. While more consistent in nature then the rest of the Guts the layout of the city is still very dream-like, with dead ends, redundant passages, clashing architecture, pointless decorations, and places that define both the laws of physics and/or euclidean geometry.
Notes:
The Fate of Firearms: While the reason why is not fully understood, propellants used in many firearms react violently with the air of The Devourer when ignited, causing backfire and chain detonations.
